KEY ECONOMIC PRINCIPLES I’M ADDRESSING: Institutions are the “rules of the games” that influence choices.

OVERALL RESEARCH QUESTION: In the US Government, how does the institutional design of the legislative, executive, and judicial branches shape and influence policymaking?

SUB QUESTIONS
What obstacles and walls do congressmen have to face when they want to pass a bill?
Who influence government people the most, and how does it vary between branches?
Why are presidential terms only four years, and why do justices serve for life, and what
effects do these terms have on their choices?
Are the “rules” of the institutions outdated for our time? Surely, the founding fathers have
not anticipated all the issues that we face today.

  1. I never thought about how the rules set by our founding fathers, although they may have worked in the past, would be outdated and not make sense for our current time period so I found that to be interesting.

I think that for future research one good topic would be explaining the exact process that a bill has to go through in order to be passed. https://www.usconstitution.net/consttop_law.html

  2. Very interesting topic because I have never really put much thought into how our branches influence policymaking.
